Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities and Canadian Women & Sport to Bring “Same Game Challenge” Gender Equity Programming Across Canada

TORONTO, March 9, 2022 – Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities (Jumpstart) and Canadian Women & Sport have teamed up to work with sport organizations across Canada to build capacity for gender equity.
Jumpstart is entering into a three-year partnership with Canadian Women & Sport to deliver the Défi Même jeu. This initiative brings together a focus on direct coaching and training to improve gender equity, and enhance capacity and buy-in by providing tools for grassroots sport organizations to embed gender equity into policies, programs and practices.
According to Jumpstart’s 2022 situation du sport report by Ipsos, 45% of Canadian parents say their child is currently not involved in playing any sports¹. When it comes to girls specifically, according to a report by Canadian Women & Sport and E-Alliance, 1 in 4 are not committed to returning to sport². Gender inequity in grassroots sport has always been an issue, but the problem is heightened now more than ever.
