Living Skies Indigenous Basketball League
Sport Relief Fund Spotlight
June 21, 2021
Next up in our Sport Relief Fund spotlight is the Aboriginal Friendship Centres of Saskatchewan and their Living Skies Indigenous Basketball League.
Living Skies was created to provide opportunities for Saskatchewan youth to engage in sport, build character and connect to their roots and communities. While the Indigenous community is their focus, they welcome all athletes and coaches that have a passion for basketball. Their socially distanced summer camp programming integrates physical activity with cultural education by bringing in both trained basketball coaches and Indigenous Elders.
Support from Jumpstart’s Sport Relief Fund will help make it possible to bring this camp to 11 urban Indigenous communities across Saskatchewan.
Thank you, Living Skies, for helping youth develop their skills on the basketball court while also celebrating Indigenous culture.
