JUMPSTART COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT GRANTS

Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities (“Jumpstart”) is dedicated to helping kids overcome financial and accessibility barriers to sport and physical recreation in order to provide inclusive play for kids of all abilities. Through its Community Development Grants (“CDG”) program, Jumpstart supports inclusive and accessible sports and physical recreation programs for kids aged 4-18 from families in financial need. 

WHAT QUALIFIES FOR A CDG?

CDG funding is offered to qualified donee organizations for recreational programming costs including transportation, registration and equipment. Eligible programs are sports or physical recreation programs for kids between the ages of 4 – 18 years meeting the following requirements: 

  1.   Run for a minimum total of 5 hours in length
  2.   Consist of at least 5 sessions 
  3.   Include a minimum of 25 participants
  4.   Must remove barriers to participation for kids from families in financial need 

FOCUSING ON LONG-TERM ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT & QUALITY SPORT

Jumpstart strives to support quality sports and physical recreational programming by funding programs that align with the Sport for Life Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) Framework. Applicants should review the LTAD framework and be able to identify how their proposed programming aligns with the development stages specific to the sport and age of participants

HOW TO APPLY

Eligible organizations must submit an online application within the appropriate application period (see “Grant Timelines” below). Applications submitted by email or mail will not be considered. To complete the application, the following Information is required: 


  1.   Organization legal name and contact information 
  2.   Program overview and details
  3.   Other participating organizations (if applicable)
  4.   Budget details


GRANT TIMELINES

Grant applications will be available during three application periods in 2019. Applicants must apply for funding during the application period that corresponds with the program dates of their proposed program.

WHO REVIEWS SUBMISSIONS?

All eligible submissions will be reviewed by a non-conflicted panel review committee made up of Jumpstart employees and community members. All applications will be reviewed and evaluated using a standardized rubric in alignment with Jumpstart’s grant objectives.

HOW ARE FUNDS DISBURSED TO SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS?

Funds are disbursed in 3 intervals for approved grants:

  1.   25% upon acceptance and prior to program start date;
  2.   65% upon submission of child data;
  3.   10% upon submission of final report.

WHAT ARE THE REPORTING REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS?

Successful applicants will be required to report the following child data information for each program participant: first name, last name, gender, date of birth and postal code. In addition, 10% of funds requested will be contingent on the provision of a final report based on an outline provided by Jumpstart upon acceptance.
